This is a favorite recent design project, as it was for me! The narrow rear yard and patio of my Central District townhome is wide open to the southern sky. It can get very hot in the summer, and pummeled with rain and wind in the winter. I have designed and built several outdoor shelters for various friends and clients, so I thought it was time to make one for myself. This new ‘outdoor room’ has become my new favorite space to hangout and decompress after a hard day of architecting. I use it year round, whatever the weather. I built it myself over three days with the kind help of a friend in June of 2023.
